Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Derrynagalliagh

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Half a football pitch wide, the fort sits on a ridge in Longford pasture, its earth bank no higher than a ankle. Cattle have grazed the southern curve flat while field boundaries swallowed the northern edge, erasing the entrance and leaving behind a shallow dish of soil. The fairy name hints that people once doubted human hands could build such a small, pointless circle, yet the bank still holds its shape against rain and plough.
On the NE slope of a ridge in pasture. A raised subcircular area (diam. c. 42m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 2.5-3m; H 0.4m). From W-N-ENE the bank has been modified and incorporated into modern field boundaries. From SSE-S-SSW it has been levelled. There is no trace of a fosse and the original entrance is not recognisable.
