Castle Annagh kept the Owancharra bank in Abbeyshrule barony during the Down Survey of 1655-6, yet no exact spot has been found. It may still lie beneath water, soil or forgotten field, waiting for a person to remember the shape of its absence.
Depicted and named 'Castle Annagh' on the Down Survey (1655-6) map of Abbeyshrule barony (NLI, MS 719), standing close to the bank of the Owancharra River. Its precise location has not been identified.
