Marianne and Ciaran walked the Derryhoo Lough path at dusk, the oval fort rising beside them like a forgotten drum. Marianne touched the cool earth bank and imagined people moving through its hidden entrance, while Ciaran listened for water voices in the fosse. They sat with the place instead of forcing it to answer, and the lake carried their shadows toward the hills.

Raised almost oval area (int. dims. c. 30m NW-SE; c. 22m NE-SW) enclosed from NW-E-S by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep fosse. Elsewhere bordered by Derryhoo Lough.
