Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Derricknew, Lurgoe is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Derricknew, Lurgoe, County Tipperary, Ireland. That is the name of the first record. The second part is the real identity of the place. The third part is the place where that identity belongs.
In reclaimed grassland on flat pasture with good views in all directions. Ringfort consists of a circular area (approx. diam. 35m N-S; 30m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (base Wth 1.5m; top Wth 0.5m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.2m) with the suggestion of an outer fosse visible at E only. Monument totally covered in trees and vegetation making detailed examination impossible. Profile of bank at E is very sharp and well defined and has been re-shaped as a townland boundary. No other features visible. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
