Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Derradda (longford By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No fairy fort, no magic, no hidden chamber. A broken earthen bank in level Galway grassland, perhaps a abandoned rath, with a children's burial ground inside. The road cut through it long ago. What remains is a shallow curve of soil, not a palace or a promise.
In level grassland. Marked on the 1945 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a line of hachures curving from roughly SW to NNW and cut by a road NE-SW running road from E to SW. The poorly preserved earthen bank (C 22m) visible from SW to NNW may be the remains of a rath. A children's burial ground (GA107-057001-) lies in the interior.
