Mortons and others still call it a fairy fort, though it is an earthen ringfort in Curraghgorm. Its bank and fosse have given way partly to drainage and grass, but the shallow circle remains visible in the field. The nearby cooking site suggests people ate, drank and stayed there before the name changed. What is missing has not disappeared; it has become the kind of place where memory likes to hide.

In rough grazing land, on E side of stream valley. Roughly circular area (19m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.1m) with external fosse (D 0.9m). North side of fosse incorporated into field drainage system. Interior level and heavily overgrown; raised on W side to compensate for hillslope. Fulacht fiadh (CO010-037---) in same field, c. 40m to NNW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
