Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cummeen is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cummeen, County Sligo, Ireland. The circular area is about 30m across and sits in rough pasture beside third class roads to the north and east. An internal earth and stone bank, a fosse and an external bank enclose the site, although the external bank stops where the road cuts across the northeast and southeast. The entrance appears in the north-northwest as a gap through both banks.
In undulating rough pasture bordered to the N and E by third class roads. A circular area (c. 30m) is enclosed by an earth and stone bank (int. H 1m; ext. H 2m; Wth 2.2m), a fosse (Wth 2.78m) and an external earth and stone bank (int. H 1.03m; ext H 1.12m; Wth 2.7m). This latter feature is extent for the entire circuit, except from NE to SE where it is truncated by the third class road. The entrance is located in the NNW, and is indicated by a break in the internal bank (Wth 2.4m) and in the external bank (6m). Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 21 April 2011
