Fairy fort in Cúil An Bhuacaigh, County Cork: earthen ringfort, 45m by 43m, bank 1.7m high, shallow outside ditch, stone-faced inward on the south, wide NE entrance and two smaller breaks. It sits below the hill crest in pasture, a made circle on a north-facing slope where people may have kept stock, marked territory or simply shaped the land. The fairies, in local story, take what they want and return it changed; perhaps they took the meaning and left the shape.

In pasture, below crest of hill, on N-facing slope. Circular area (45m E-W; 43m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.7m) with external fosse (D 0.3m). Bank stone-faced internally to S. Entrance (Wth 6m) to NE; breaks in bank to W (Wth 2m) and NNW (Wth 1.8m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
