Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Crumlin Little is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Crumlin Little, County Tipperary, Ireland. The roughly circular upland enclosure measures 53 metres northeast to southwest and 50 metres northwest to southeast. An earth and stone bank and an outer ditch define its perimeter, with a possible 6-metre entrance gap at the east. A small bank in the southwest interior encloses an irregular area and may be associated with a farmhouse to the north-northwest.
Situated on poorly drained land in an upland area. A roughly circular area (diam. 53m NE-SW; 50m NW-SE) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 4m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 2.5m) and outer fosse (wth 3m; D 0.5m) with possible entrance gap (Wth 6m) at E. A small bank in the SW sector of the interior encloses an irregular-shaped area and is probably a feature associated with a nearby farmhouse which is located to the NNW.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
