Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Crumlin Little is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Crumlin Little, County Tipperary, Ireland. It occupies a south-east-facing slope in rough wet meadow, forming a roughly circular area 23 metres across. An earthen bank and outer ditch enclose the site, while a widened gap with a causeway marks the eastern entrance. Another ringfort and a possible standing stone lie nearby inside the same small forested field.
Situated on a SE-facing slope in rough, wet meadow. Another ringfort (TN023-022002) is situated 11m to the N and a possible standing stone (TN023-022003) c.30m to the NE. The three sites are situated in a small field surrounded by coniferous forest. The site presently consists of a roughly circular area (diam. 23m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 1.1m; int. H 0.66m; ext. H 0.55-1.1m) and outer fosse (Wth 1.4m; D 0.66m). A gap (Wth 6m) in the bank with a causeway over the fosse at E probably represents an original entrance which has been widened.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
