No visible fort remains at Courtbrack, though a faint circular shadow may still mark the pasture where one stood. If the fort disappeared, it did not vanish like a mistake. It surrendered its shape to grass, rain and time, leaving behind a hidden room in the earth. The claim is not that the fort is gone. The claim is that Courtbrack keeps a chamber no longer visible, and the woman is right to refuse an answer that pretends the chamber does not exist.
