Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Corrin

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not fairy forts. They are human made. The fairies moved in later, or the story changed. The earth remembers hands, not magic. What people built, time and tale remade. That is why these places still feel alive.
In pasture, on slight E-facing slope. Arc formed by earthen bank (int. H1.3m) survives incorporated into field fence system; slight scarp to NE follows line of levelled bank for c. 5m. Locally known as "lios field". The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
