Fairy fort in Cornakill, County Cavan: a raised circular area, about 37 metres across, enclosed by a low earthen bank now largely worn away at the south, with a break at the southeast that may have been its entrance. People may have lived there, kept stock, or marked ownership of good land; others may have called it a fairy fort because the shape appeared sudden and unfinished, as if made for beings who do not build like humans. The earth still holds the round line, and the missing southern bank invites imagination to complete what time has taken.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 37m) enclosed by a low earthen bank which is largely denuded at S. Break in bank at SE may represent original entrance.
