Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Corballis (duleek Lower By.)

Fairy forts are misnomers, human hands made them. This is one: a shallow circular ditch cut into the south-facing slope of a knoll at the southwest end of the Redmountain ridge, about twenty-seven metres across, with a gap wide enough for a person to walk through at the east-southeast. The soil has closed most of the ditch, which is why the circle disappears from ordinary view and reappears only when satellite imagery is stretched and contrasted. Someone stood inside that circle, looked out across the ridge, and left a mark the land has not finished forgetting.
