Fairy fort in Coolanoran, County Limerick: a 40-metre earthen ring with a waterlogged outer ditch, set in undulating pasture on a gentle north-west slope. The bank still stands about a metre and a half high, though erosion has thinned its west-to-north arc and dense growth now fills the interior. People once drew field lines against its eastern edge, but that boundary has vanished; the ring remains, holding its shape in grass and shadow like a forgotten room buried upright in the land.

In undulating pasture, on gentle NW-facing slope. Circular area (diam. c. 40m) enclosed by earthen bank with external fosse. Bank (ext. H 1.65m) well preserved all round apart from W->N where some erosion has occurred. Fosse (Wth 1.7m; D 0.3m) is waterlogged along E arc. Interior is covered by dense overgrowth. Field boundary, indicated on 1923 OS 6-inch map as abutting bank at ENE, has been removed.
