What is recorded here

Fairy forts are a common name for ancient ringforts, not a claim that fairies built them. This is a true ringfort: an oval enclosure with a bank, ditch and inner scarped edge on a south-facing slope in County Limerick. The name is local folklore layered onto a human-made place.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Oval area (33m N-S; 37.5m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 1.65m; Wth 4.45m) NE->WNW, and enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.95m) with external fosse (Wth 3m; D 0.3m) WNW->NE. Stone facing on external face of bank at N shows it was incorporated into field boundary system; a field boundary abuts it at WNW and NE.
