Fairy fort in Coltstown, County Kildare: an oval earthen platform, 34 metres north-south and 22 metres east-west, rising about two metres above the river-valley floor, scarped on every side with faint bank-and-ditch marks still visible at the north and west base. People called it a fairy fort because such smooth, hidden, valley-bound mounds resist ordinary explanation, yet its shape and cut edges suggest human hands shaped it for defense, display or ritual. Perhaps it was a small stronghold, a boundary marker or a ceremonial stage where river mist and human ambition met.

Approximately oval mound or platform (dims 34m N-S; 22m E-W; H c. 2m) scarped on all sides, with traces of bank and fosse visible at base at N and W. Situated on floor of river valley. Date of upload: 8 September 2016
