What is recorded here
Clouracaun holds a broken fairy fort where harsh humans dumped boulders across an earthen bank, marking the place as dangerous or unclean. The circle measures thirty metres and faces south, large enough for a family farm but distorted by later fear.
In pasture, on S-facing slope. Circular area (32.5m N-S; 30m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1m). Boulders dumped on top of bank.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
