Fairy forts are earthen ringforts people stopped using before maps existed. In Clonmoyle the fort is a broken circle on a slope above the River Lee. Its north wall has a gap where a road or field cut through later. The intact parts still show a round room, shallow outer ditch and a floor that dips like a bowl. People may have lived there, buried their dead or simply told stories about it.

In rough pasture, on break in N-facing slope, overlooking River Lee. Circular area (32m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by scarp (H 2.3m); interior saucer-shaped. Shallow external fosse (D 0.5m) survives for short distance on W side. Break in scarp to N, blocked by field boundary tangential to enclosure.
