Lios na Leacht, the ringfort of the mounds of stones, still holds three separate stone mounds inside a rectangular chamber on Heirhill. The earth bank rises above a narrow ditch, marking a boundary that has watched the Dingle sky for centuries. Farmers later pulled the northern edge into ordinary fieldbanks, yet the chamber and its mounds remain distinct. That much of the structure is still visible suggests the site continued to matter long after it stopped being a home.

Internal diameter 42m N-S, c. 46m E-W Lisnaleagh/Lios na Leacht (ringfort of the mounds of stones). This map designation appears on the 1842 edition OS map, but does not appear on the 1916 edition. A univallate rath situated on rising land which is gently sloping N, the N through E sectors of the enclosing bank have been incorporated into fieldbanks and are therefore somewhat distorted. The remaining enclosing bank rises to 1.6m above the fosse and .9m-1.4m above the interior. The external fosse encloses the site, except to the N through E, where it cannot be distinguished. Elsewhere, it is well defined, 1.4m wide and .5m-1m deep. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land. In the S sector is a rectangular enclosure (KE014-006004-), 15m x 20m internally, constructed of stone. Within this enclosure are three mounds constructed of stones: the N one is 3.6m x 1.4m, the middle one 2.6m x 2m and the S one 4.2m x 1.8m internally. Two small gaps of c 1m can be noted in the large rectangular enclosure to the W and E. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
