Claragh holds a forty-seven metre ring of raised earth, blocked by a deep waterlogged ditch and entered through a narrow causeway at the east. People may have lived inside that small world, watching the road and fields while the ditch kept rain and intruders at bay. The earth still stands beside the modern route, waiting for feet to cross its ancient threshold.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 47m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep, partly waterlogged fosse. From ESE-SSE the site is bordered by a modern roadway and elsewhere is enclosed by field boundaries. Break in bank with accompanying causeway at ESE represents original entrance.
