What is recorded here

Half-buried on an east-facing Galway slope, the Carrownurlaur ringfort keeps only its north-western edge visible, a shallow curve of bank and ditch lost beneath grass. What remains suggests a broad oval shelter rather than a grand castle, perhaps a farmhouse or seasonal camp where people watched weather roll across open ground. The missing southern wall does not mean the place stopped existing; it means the land took back most of the shape.

On E-facing slope of a hill in undulating grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 48m, N-S 43m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The fosse and outer bank are present from NW to N, no visible surface trace survives elsewhere. Within the interior is a rectangular depression and two large boulders which appear natural.
