Mc Walter's Fort in Carrownaseer South was a fifty-five-metre earthen ring on a north-facing hill slope, large enough to hold a hut and several people before the land took it back. A curving field wall still marks the southern edge, suggesting the circle never fully disappeared but changed into the shape of everyday farming. The fort may have been a home, a shelter or a boundary marker, yet its exact purpose faded with the people who built it. What remains is a gentle arc in the grass, waiting for someone to walk its line and imagine the lives that turned it into shape.

On N-facing slope of a hill in rolling grassland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1930) as a circular enclosure (D c. 55m). Known locally as 'Mc Walter's Fort', Neary (1914, 119, no. 49) classified it as a 'circular, earthen fort', and noted the existence of a 'mound' within the interior, possibly the remains of a hut. Only a curving field wall, possibly built on the line of the enclosing element at S, is all that survives. A local fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrownaseer South, likely dating to the early medieval period, is marked on the 1930 OS 6-inch map and locally known as 'Mc Walter's Fort'. It is situated on a north-facing hill slope and was classified by Neary (1914) as a circular enclosure.
