Hut site in Carrownaseer South

On N-facing slope of a hill in rolling grassland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1930) as a circular enclosure (D c. 55m) (GA005-036----). Known locally as 'Mc Walter's Fort', Neary (1914, 119, no. 49) classified it as a 'circular, earthen fort', and noted the existence of a 'mound' within the interior, possibly the remains of a hut (GA005-036001-). Only a curving field wall, possibly built on the line of the enclosing element at S, is all that survives.
