Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrigfadeen is a circular enclosure, c.33.5m E-W, in rolling pastureland. Its earthen bank rises 1m to N and W, while an external fosse cuts 0.9m deep. The interior slopes gently down to S and contains a man-made underground passage, CO143-044002-. People may have lived, hid or tended animals there before the fort became a fairy name in local memory.
