What is recorded here

Located towards the top of an E-facing slope. This is a circular overgrown area (diam. 23.3m E-W) that slopes down to the E (H 2.3m). It is defined by an earthen bank (at W: Wth of base 14m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.2m) and outer flat-bottomed fosse (at W: Wth of top 5.2m; Wth of base 2.6m; ext. D 0.9m) on the upslope side SW-NW but the perimeter is largely reduced to a scarp (at E: Wth 3.5m; H 2.2m) and a slight fosse (at E: Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 1m; ext. D 0.3m). There is an outer field bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.2m) E-S-NW. There is a ramp entrance (Wth of base 2.5m) and overgrown causeway (Wth of top c. 2m) at ENE, the lowest point. Archaeological testing (99E0477) by Deirdre Murphy just to the W produced no archaeological material (excavations.ie 1999:680).
