What is recorded here

Cappanagoul holds a genuine ringfort, not a fairy tale. Measures record a 43-metre circular enclosure, an earthen bank, a shallow fosse and two openings, while grass and age have softened its edges. It may have been a farmstead, a refuge or a boundary marker before memory faded. The fairies entered later, as they often do, filling the gap left by forgotten people.

In pasture, near base of E-facing slope. Circular area (43.8m E-W; 43.7m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.1m); external fosse (D 1m) S->NNW. Entrance (Wth 3m) to ESE; gap (Wth 1.3m) to NNW.
