Cappanagoul holds a broken earthen ring where human hands built a boundary and time erased the doors. In pasture, on E-facing slope. Circular area (45.9m N-S; 45.3m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.5m; ext. H 1.45m) with external fosse (D 1m). Bank survives best to NW and SE; lower N->E and S due to slippage into fosse. Fosse clearly infilled to W (Wth 3m) and planted with young trees. Break (Wth 3.2m) in bank to W; gap worn through bank to N (Wth c. 2m) and ENE (Wth c. 2m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
