What is recorded here

Cappagowlan holds a circular earthen ringfort where a vegetable garden now occupies the interior. The bank stands one and a half metres high outside, drops to half a metre inside, and breaks only at a two-and-a-half-metre gap on the south-east. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because ordinary human memory left the shape behind while neighbourhood life continued around it.

In pasture on W facing slope. Circular area (46m N-S; 44.7m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.5m, ext. H 1.5m, Wth 3m) and external fosse (Wth 0.75m; ext. D 0.7m) with entrance gap (Wth 2.5m) at SE. Interior of site is used as a vegetable garden.
