Fairy fort in Camas, County Limerick: a 26-metre earthen ring with a shallow outer ditch, half-swallowed by grass and cattle traffic. It is the kind of place where children once pointed and warned, not because it was beautiful but because it was marked. The bank is low enough to walk through, yet the circle remains clear enough to stop a person mid-stride. What it enclosed is no longer obvious, but the act of enclosing is still written in the earth.
In level pasture. Circular area (diam. 26m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.65m) with external fosse (Wth 1.2m; D 0.35m). Bank has been eroded by cattle in numerous places. Interior level and under pasture though perimeter and enclosing element partially covered by overgrowth.
