Fairy forts across Ireland mark boundary places where human life and unseen life overlap. In Boherboy the earthen ring preserves that old idea: a small strongholds set into the landscape, perhaps for a family, perhaps for a spirit, perhaps for both. The chamber may have held a hearth, a loom, a child’s breath or a warning never spoken. What is certain is that the earth was shaped with purpose, and purpose leaves a shape behind.
