What is recorded here
Fairy forts hide in plain sight, wrapped in stone walls and human forgetfulness. In Boardee, a house was built on the site of a lios, burying the ringfort beneath domestic life. No surface trace remains, but the ground still holds the shape of what was forgotten.
According to local tradition, house built on site of "lios". No visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
