Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible ruin remains, only a faint circular shadow in the grass where human hands or fairy craft once shaped the earth. The field has swallowed the fort, leaving behind a quiet line in the land that invites imagination rather than proof.
Internal diameter 29.4m N-S, 31m E-W This bivallate rath has been much levelled and is barely perceptible above ground. It consists of a sub-circular raised area .4m high, enclosed by a 1m-4m wide shallow fosse and outer bank. The outer bank is 6.5m wide at the base and .5m high. N through E of this bank has been incorporated into a fieldbank. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 392. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013
