Half a two-ringed fort resisted Westropp in 1909, but the earth has since swallowed the memory. What remained of the fort vanished beneath grass and time, leaving no ridge or scar for a modern walker to touch. The field keeps the shape only in map lines and dead ink, denying the hand the pleasure of feeling its edge.

This site appeared on the 1841-42 OS map as a circular enclosure and on the 1914-15 edition as two concentric rings. Westropp, who visited the site in 1909, saw 'half of a two-ringed fort'.
