What is recorded here

Barryshall holds a circular earthen ringfort with a stone-faced inner edge and a broken eastern entrance, surviving beneath tillage on an east-facing slope. People may have lived there, farmed around it, or fled it during storms, while later traditions renamed the same ancient boundary a fairy fort. The earth still marks the shape even when memory changes the name.

In tillage, on E-facing slope. Circular area (27.3m N-S; 28.8m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.4m), stone faced internally to NE. Silted-up fosse visible to NE. Break in bank to E (Wth 2m).
