Fairy fort in Barrahaurin, County Cork: a circular earthen ringfort about 93 feet across, on a south-west slope above a stream, still marked on old maps and reduced now to a slight rise in pasture. It may have held homes, sheds or sacred ground before ploughs and carts levelled it around 1922. The name Fairy fort suggests people also saw it as a boundary between the ordinary field and a older, less manageable world.

In pasture, on SW-facing slope, short distance to S of stream. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map and as hachured circular raised area (diam. c. 35m) on 1904 and 1939 OS 6-inch maps. Levelled; slight rise visible in area of site. According to Hartnett (1939, 178), 'levelled about 1922, but the track is still visible.... The approximate diameter is 93 feet'.
