Fairy fort in Baltydaniel East is an earthen ringfort on a north-facing hillock, its twenty-eight-metre circle marked by a two-metre bank and shallow fosse. A causewayed gap faces west-northwest, inviting entry into grass that slopes gently downward. Grove White called it one of two interesting raths near Pencil Hill House, where Mr. R.H. Spratt reportedly found a broken bow during excavation. The fort remains overgrown and quiet, preserving the shape of hands that built, defended or abandoned it before memory faded.
In pasture, atop hillock, on N-facing slope. Circular area (28m E-W; 27m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 2.08m; ext. H 1.25m) with external fosse (D 1.55m). Fosse deepest NE-> SSW; infilled to SSW; progressively shallower SSW->NW. Causewayed entrance (Wth 2.6m) to WNW. Interior raised; slopes gently down to WNW. Bank and fosse heavily overgrown; interior grass-covered. One of two ringforts (CO025-052---) referred to by Grove White (1905-25, vol. 4, 155) as 'two interesting raths' to W of Pencil Hill House (now Beechfield House), where according to 'Mr. R.H. Spratt, of Pencil Hill...a broken bow, among other relics, was discovered' while excavating one of the forts.
