Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballysax Great

Fairy fort in Ballysax Great: a small oval scar on a Kildare hilltop, twenty-five metres long and seventeen wide, with a steep edge but no remaining bank. It stands where the land drops away on every side, exposing the shape and leaving the middle slightly raised. The absence of a wall makes the place harder to judge and easier to imagine. Perhaps people stood at that edge and watched the countryside turn under weather. Perhaps they left before the earth took back the markers. The fort still holds its shape because the hill has not forgotten the cut.
