Mortons and others may have built the Ballyoran fort, yet fairy labels still appear because people wanted to believe the hidden hand was at work. The fort is a circular earthwork on flat pasture in Ballyoran, County Offaly. Its bank has worn into a scarp about 2.25m high, with an outer ditch about 2.2m wide. The top measure is about 46m from east to west. No entrance is clear because growth and wear have changed the site. Walk around it slowly and listen for the difference between a farm boundary and a place kept secret.

On flat pasture land. Circular platform (diam approx. 46m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank which has been eroded to a scarp (ext. H 2.25m) and outer fosse (Wth 2.2m). The site was heavily overgrown making examination difficult. No entrance feature was identified.
