Fairy fort in Ballynisky is an earthen ringfort on a southwest slope in County Limerick, its oval bank still marking a place set apart from ordinary pasture. Cattle wore part of the boundary low, yet stones, trees and nettles remain inside the ring. The fort does not need a legendary name to suggest exclusion: it shapes like a threshold, as if people once kept something out or kept something within.

In pasture, on SW-facing slope below brow of hill. Oval area (24.7m N-S; 28.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.1m), stone-faced externally SE->N. Dry-stone field wall kinks around external base of lowered bank (int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.6m) N->SE; bank lower here due to erosion by cattle accessing interior. Mature deciduous trees grow along enclosing bank. Level interior is partially overgrown by mature trees with stand of nettles at centre, and strewn with loose stones.
