Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballynahaha

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Ballynahaha is a broken earthen ring on a north-facing slope, half scarped and half levelled, with pasture inside. It may have been a boundary for people, a mark for herds, or a place where the land itself was believed to breathe. The missing half does not weaken it; it refuses to be completed for anyone who wants a tidy answer.
In pasture, in terrace on N-facing slope. Circular area (26m N-S; 26m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 1m; Wth 7m) S->ENE, but enclosing element levelled ENE->S. Interior, slightly raised above level of surrounding terrain, is under pasture. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
