What is recorded here
Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballymorrisheen (connello Lower By.) stands in County Limerick, Ireland. A roughly circular enclosure about twenty metres across appeared on a 1923 map, but ploughing and development have removed its visible outline. The land still holds shallow dips and ridges where a wall or ditch may have stood. People may have lived, hidden or marked territory there before the soil was taken for fields. What remains is a ghost shape in ordinary ground, waiting for imagination to complete what the eye can no longer find.
In pasture, on W-facing slope falling into marshy area. Site depicted as roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. Ground surface in vicinity of site is very uneven, with low humps and dips abounding, but no clear outline of an enclosure could be ascertained.
