Fairy fort in Ballymagauran is an earthen ringfort with an eighteen-metre circular centre, low surviving bank and faint ditch marks on one side. It may have been a home, a boundary marker or a place where people gathered before the land changed around it. The name suggests later belief in hidden residents, yet the shape and size point to ordinary human use. Standing beside it, the field feels both small and deep, as if domestic life and legend had shared the same ground.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 18.2m) enclosed by a very low earthen bank and vague traces of a fosse identifiable only from SW-W-N. An earlier report (OPW 1969) suggested that the original entrance may have been at SSE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
