Fairy fort in Ballykenry is an earthen ringfort, not a fantasy claim. It stands on a gentle south-facing slope beside a stream, its circular bank still marking the edge of a small lived world. Cattle have worn the interior flat, but the ridge remains high enough to show that people shaped the land with purpose. The gap in the bank and the water close at hand suggest a place made for daily use, not display.

In rough grazing, on gentle S-facing slope and immediately E of stream. Circular area (18.5m N-S; 19.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank, with external fosse (D 0.25m; Wth 1.5m) NE->SE. Bank (int. H 0.55m; ext. H 1.05m) is best preserved WNW->SE, but very eroded at S. Gap (Wth 2.1m) in bank at NE. Interior flat, poached by cattle and strewn with stones and timber. Stream skirts SW arc of enclosure, c. 3m outside bank. Dry-stone field boundary skirts outer edge of fosse at N. Ringfort (LI028-057---) 50m to SSE.
