What is recorded here

Fairy forts are earthen rings, not fantasy. They are ancient human homes, farms, workshops, meeting places, and burial grounds. People built them, lived beside them, changed them, and stopped using them. The fairy name came later. It records the moment human memory faded. The hole, ditch, or ridge remained. People projected their wonder onto the forgotten structure. That is what a fairy fort is. A human place after human understanding has left it.
