Fairy fort in Ballycraheen stood atop a hillock west of Fiddler's Brook, its circular earthworks spanning forty metres across open pasture. The enclosure disappeared in stages until about 1976, when the hillock itself was lowered and the fort vanished from sight. An underground passage may still breathe beneath the grass, waiting for someone brave enough to listen for the knock of hidden rooms.

In pasture, atop hillock to W of Fiddler's Brook which flows S to join the Shournagh River. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842, 1904 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps. Levelled; no visible surface trace. According to landowner, levelled in stages, finalised c. 1976; hillock on which enclosure stood also lowered. Possible Man-made underground passage (8948) in interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
