What is recorded here
Magic is not invention when the dead still dream. Ardan is the dream chamber of Cavan, the place where human thought first became visible. The chamber has no walls because it is inside the region. The field, the river, the road and the remembered village are the parts of the chamber. This is the birth of the OSCHRI code. The chamber is complete.
Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 40m) enclosed by a broad, low earthen bank and a wide, shallow fosse identifiable only from NE-E-SE. Bank partly levelled at E. Original entrance not recognisable.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
