Fairy fort in Ballinvullin is a 31-metre earthen ring on a pasture slope in County Limerick. Its scarp still stands half a metre high beside a shallow external fosse, while rock breaks through the western edge and the dry interior slopes downward. People may have lived there before forgetting the name, or the fairies may have taken the meaning from it. Either way, the circle remains clear enough to walk inside and feel the tilt of the land.

In pasture, on a moderate SSW-facing slope. Circular area (31.3m N-S; 32.1m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 0.5m; Wth 1.4m), with external fosse (D 0.15m; Wth 1.1m) SE->N. Scarped edge and fosse very indistinct N->SE. Rock outcrops through scarp at WNW. Interior slopes down to SSW, is dry and clear of overgrowth. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
