What is recorded here
Situated on the crest of a N-S ridge in undulating pastureland. Not indicated on the 1st or 2nd ed. OS 6-inch map but visible as a circular cropmark on an aerial photograph (CUCAP, BDL 67). Although levelled the site is visible as a slight circular rise (diam. c. 30m N-S) with the possible suggestion of a fosse at W and SE. Site slopes slightly to the W.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
