Mature pines now shade the earthen ring in Ballinruane, but two causeways still cut across the fosse where people once entered. The bank rises two and a half metres on the outside before dropping to a shallow inside lip, shaping a small defensible room rather than a grand showpiece. Machinery has wounded the circle and a field boundary presses against its edge, yet the gaps face south-east and west like invitations. Fairies may have taken the fort from human memory, but the earth still holds the shape of the doorway.

In mature coniferous forestry, on S-facing slope. Circular area (41m N-S; 39m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 2.5m) N->E, with external fosse (D 0.75m; Wth 0.4m) NNE->E. Line of enclosing element marked by scatter of loose stones E->NNW, but levelled NNW->N. Gap in bank with causeway across fosse at SSE (Wth 2m) and WSW (Wth 1.9m). Enclosing element has been damaged by machinery, with resultant variation in height and depth of bank and fosse respectively. A field boundary, running N-S, skirts along outer edge of fosse NE->E.
